Flaca's Carnitas Tacos
It’s Saturday morning and you’re thinking to yourself, “What sounds good for dinner tonight?”. Then it hits you, Flaca’s opens at 11 am and it’s Carnitas Saturday! Carnitas tacos are now your dinner plan.
INGREDIENTS
Flaca’s carnitas container
Note: Carnitas are available every Saturday from 11 AM-3 PM
Corn tortillas
Neutral oil of your choice, for frying
Salt of your choice
Optional: Flaca’s pico de gallo & Flaca’s guacamole (or salsa)
Make it a meal: Add Flaca’s Spanish rice & beans as sides!
DIRECTIONS
Transfer the carnitas to a microwave-safe bowl, cover them with a wet paper towel, and microwave for 1.5-2.5 minutes to heat through. Carefully shred carnitas by hand to your desired liking.
Bring a pan to the stove and allow to heat over low to medium heat.
While the pan is heating up, heat up 4 tortillas at a time. Wrap them in a paper towel, wet them with water on both sides, and microwave for 30-40 seconds until the tortillas are soft.
Once the pan is heated, add the oil of your choice. Allow the oil to heat up.
Fill one side of the tortilla with the carnitas meat, then fold it over to create a taco. Carefully place the flat side down into the hot pan.
Allow the taco to fry on one side, until crispy brown edges form, then use tongs to flip and fry the other side.
Remove the tacos onto paper towels when they’re fried to your liking, and salt while they’re still hot.
Allow the tacos to cool, then fill with Flaca’s pico de gallo (optional but elevates the tacos) and dip into salsa or guac. Enjoy!
